The IHS World Orchestra was honored to serve in Cuba this June; once again accompanied by a gorgeous group of Cuban string players. Also for this tour, the four seats in the trombone section, as well as a seat in the saxophone section were completed with professional Cuban musicians. Our Spanish vocals were covered by a lovely Cuban singer. It’s always a privilege to be able to encourage and work together with local artists.
Added to the itinerary this year was a first-time visit to a prison, a request which has never been granted to an foreign group before now. Fotos inside the prison were prohibited. Rounding off the colorful agenda, the orchestra booked a recording studio to capture a part of its repertoire.
We are grateful to our new friends Frank Fernandez and Alioth Gonzales for their tireless organizing and endless support in making a tour of this caliber a success for all involved.
